Douglas Gray was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Douglas Gray lives in Scarborough where he enjoys spectacular views from his studio across the South Bay towards Ravenscar and the North Yorkshire Moors. Douglas Gray's professional artistic career has encompassed poster and book cover illustration and working with Universal Studios for clients such as Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood - this creative journey launched his entry into the world of fine art. As Douglas Gray's work became sought after amongst renowned collectors, his growing reputation accelerated. Douglas Gray now specialises in contemporary, metropolitan, figurative and marine paintings. Douglas Gray was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) in 2011 and confirmed his reputation by winning the Winsor & Newton award for Best Oil Painting at their exhibition in the same year and in 2012 won the Russell & Chapple prize for most outstanding oil painting. His atmospheric interpretations of cityscapes and cafe life continue to seduce an international audience and Douglas Gray has already acquired an impressive array of group and solo exhibitions. Douglas Gray is a regular exhibitor in London with the RSMA, The Royal Oil Painters institute, and the Royal Society of British Artists.
